Project 365...Week 13

This is a great example of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mike was changing his shirt and Betsy was right at his feet so he decided to put his shirt on her. She was such a good sport, I was really surprised because we have never put any clothing on her before. She walked alittle funny but then she sat down. She didn't try to take the shirt off or anything. She was so cute! I made this book online through Snapfish. I wanted Mike to have a photo album book to remember his daughters wedding. This is the first book I have ever done like this. I think it turned out great and it only took me about 2 hours to pick the pictures, organize them, crop them and order the book to print.
We got to Michael's new house... it is beautiful. Most of the rooms aren't set up yet but the living room (which is the first room you walk into when you come through the front door)This is the house warming gift we got for Michael. This little fridge is for his "man room" which is like his theater room. Then we got a basket and filled it with popcorn, soda and theater candy.
Dinner was so delicious... seafood, seafood, seafood. Mom an Aunt Judy made shrimp, crab cakes and scallops. Thanks Aunt Judy for bringing the crab cakes... what a wonderful treat!
Aunt Judy is so COOL!

First Hotel Night

Kathy and I got a late start on the road last night. I think it was around 10:30 or so... so by 1:30am we were ready to call it a night. So with much help and guidance from Mike we stopped in Augusta at this Homewood Suites. It was beautiful! A nice sitting area that we didn't even use.
It even had a full kitchen...burners, dish washer, sink, fridge... just amazing!
The beds were comfy but the room didn't get as cold as I like to keep a hotel room. That is probably a good thing for Kathy because she gets cold real easily.
Good night to all... and to all a good night!

Weekend Project: Garage

This past weekend we tackled the garage. This was our big cleaning project for the month. The garage wasn't too out of control but we needed to go through things and decide if we still needed it and if it was being stored in the most logical location. We still have a project of going through all the miscellaneous nuts, bolts, screws and nails but all in all the garage is set up to be much more functional than it was.

Honey Mustard Chicken

I love to read the homespun heart blog and she had this great recipe for Honey Chicken. I tried it last week and it was so delicious. I am not sure why I would need butter or so much butter in this recipe. Next time I will try it without it and see how it works out.

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1/3 c. margarine or butter, melted
1/3 c. honey
2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
1/4 tsp. salt
Combine all sauce ingredients. Arrange chicken in shallow baking pan and pour sauce over chicken. Bake at 350 for one hour or until cooked through!
Makes 4 servings.

Project 365 ~ Week 12

I pulled out my Weight Watchers books this week to try and get some ideas on getting back on track. I seem to need some reminders of portion control and healthy choices.
Finally my entire craft room is clean and organized. I have one project I am working on right now and a few I need to get started on but I am so excited the room is finally done after 2 years :-)
My table is right next to the window so I can open the blinds, enjoy the outside beauty, keep an eye on Betsy and get some crafting projects done.
I tried another new recipe this week and it was delicious ~ Honey Mustard Chicken (recipe will be posted tomorrow) It smelled so good while it was baking.
Mike found this football in the garage and gave it to Betsy. She loved it! She ran around for about 5 minutes and then she decided to settle down and chew on it.

I love how she is grabbing the ball with her paws in this picture!

Salmon Turnovers

I found this recipe several months ago but never tried it until yesterday. These salmon turnovers were delicious. Although the crescent crust is fabulous I think I am going to try to make it with my whole wheat dough, just to make it a little healthier.

Here is my version of this recipe:

Salmon Turnovers (makes 8 turnovers)
2 (6 oz)cans boneless salmon
6 oz cream cheese, softened
1 onion, chopped
1 celery stalk chopped
Salt, pepper and garlic powder
2 tubes crescent rolls

Cook onions and celery in about a tablespoon of butter on the stove top for 3 to 5 minutes.
Drain the salmon and put in a mixing bowl.
Mix together cooked onions, celery, cream cheese, seasonings and salmon (drained)
Take the crescent rolls and put two together to make a square.
Put a scoop (about 1/3 cup) of the mixture in the center of the square, then fold up the corners towards the center.
Bake for about 10 to 15 minutes in a 375 degree oven.

Wordless Wednesday

We have had some rainy days here and I like to put a towel by the front door to clean Betsy's paws off when she comes back in the house. Betsy, however has her own ideas of what to do with the towel, she likes to rip it apart.

Blogoversary

I have 17 days to come up with a plan to celebrate my Blogoversary. Does anyone out there have any ideas?
I was going to do a giveaway, but what should I give away?
I was thinking of setting a goal for the next year of my blog.
I was thinking of changing my blog to be of a specific theme.

I don't really know how many people even read my blog, so now is the time to speak up.

If you read my blog on a somewhat regular basis, leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts on how I should celebrate my Blogoversary.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

Brown Sugar Pancakes

This morning I woke up and I just had to try those Brown Sugar Pancakes Christie blogged about last week. Sure enough, they are fabulous!

Brown Sugar Oatmeal Pancakes
2 eggs
1/2 cup homemade applesauce
2 cups buttermilk
2 cups freshly milled whole wheat flour
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/4 cups oats

Mix all ingredients together in order listed and fry on a hot pancake griddle. The batter WILL be quite thick, and you can adjust as you want by adding additional buttermilk or applesauce.

Project 365 ~ Week 11

The week started out so beautiful. We opened the windows and enjoyed the fresh air and warm sun. Spring is just around the corner. Here is my temporary little craft table I set up to work on making wedding invitations and RSVP cards. I got 155 done throughout the week and I will be mailing them out tomorrow (I think) We were able to take Andrew and Brittany out to dinner. It was a delicious dinner and we had a great waitress who made the night even more fun.
We had another wonderful surprise the next day. Andrew and Brittany had plans but because of the rainy and cold weather they decided to postpone their plans and get together with us. So we were able to spend almost an entire day together. They were even able to go out and pick up chicken eggs with me.We went to see a movie since there wasn't much to do while it was raining outside. On our way out of the parking lot we saw this pink limo. I looked up the website SweetandSassy.com and it's a Spa and Salon for kids. I have never heard of anything like this before. This is my final picture for this week. Do you know what it is? This is a picture of a perfect banana. I know to some this banana is still too green to eat but I really enjoyed it. I haven't had a good banana in a long time.
