Project 365 ~ Week 30

Image
This was a very special week filled with lots of special visitors. Mike's Mom, sister, niece and nephew came for a visit. Roger is 8 years old and Megan is three and they were both so excited to come see our chickens. They were a huge help with chicken chores and even setting up a new outside home for our baby chicks. We all went to the GA aquarium and had a wonderful time. So many things to see, so little time. We were even able to take the Marta to and from the aquarium. Such a fun ride :-) Maureen (Mike's sister) and I took Roger and Megan to the neighborhood next to us and let the kids play on the playground. They were able to use up alittle energy before we headed back for Megan to go potty. We made a special trip for Megan to the Cabbage Patch Hospital in Cleveland GA. It's a cute little place that even has Cabbage Patch dolls being born every few hours. Megan was picked out of the audience as one of the little girls to help name the new born Cabbage Patch ...

Project 365 ~ Week 28 and 29

Busy, busy, busy... that is my excuse for completely forgetting to post my pictures for week 28. So here are 2 weeks worth of pictures so I can get back on track. Two weeks ago we had some stone work done around our property to help with water drainage when it rains. It was amazing to see the guys work. They got all the stones done in one day. I thought the result looked great. We got some baby chicks in the mail (which is probably why I am so far behind on my blogging) They are so cute! We had a family from church over, so of course we had to teach them how to play chicken foot :-) Rachel (my niece) was able to come and see the chicks too. After playing with the chicks for a little bit we headed to Red Robin to use my free burger coupon from my birthday. Rachel loves playing with her food but hey at least she also likes eating it. Mike decided he needed to let Betsy smell the chick. He was very brave because Betsy wasn't even attached to anything, but she did great. She smelled ...

Girls, Cards and Chicks

What a wonderful day I had today. Last year I had a group of girls from our church over to learn how to make cards. My plan was to have them over every few months to learn a new technique or card layout, get to use my tools and have fun fellowshiping with each other. Well, I regretfully say it has taken me almost an entire year to get another card class planned. They made three cards and they even got to enjoy some play time with the chicks we have in our basement.

Summer Foods

Image
I have been trying to come up with some cool, refreshing foods to eat since it's been so hot outside. I've made lots of different types of smoothies and have really been enjoying them. The other night I saw I had some sour cream and salsa and I had an idea. This may be something that has been done by others but this was a first for me. I made a salad dressing by mixing the sour cream and salsa. I thought it was a delicious light dressing. The salsa I used was a pineapple medium heat salsa and that gave it a slightly sweet, slightly hot taste . Does anyone else have any good summer food ideas or recipes they would like to share? I would love to hear them.

They Have Arrived

Mike has been so excited about getting these chicks in the mail. He ordered them on June 28th from Murray McMurray . He wanted to try some new breeds, so he ordered 15 Barred Rock and 10 New Hampshire Red. The label that came on the box says that these chicks were hatched on July 7th at 10 am. This morning at 6:11 we got a call from the post office letting us know that our chicks were in. This is the box they came in (of course it had a lid on it also but I had to take that off to get this picture) The hatchery gives one free rare breed to every 25 chicks ordered. Can you find the "extra" chick they gave us? Betsy was really excited to meet her new friends :-) We placed the chicks in their new home... and they have been eating... and drinking ever since.

Project 365 ~ Week 27

This was a special week for me. I was able to spend some quality time with my Mom and Aunt Judy. After they picked me up at the airport we went shopping at Harris Teeter. We got some great deals. I had several coupons that allowed me to get free products. My total was $35 and I saved $75. I wish we had a Harris Teeter here in GA (maybe one day) We were able to see Philip's house that is being built. It is a beautiful house, that has an open floor plan. I really like the entire layout and it is a huge plus that it's all on one level. Mike flew me out to SC a few days early so I could help my Mom decorate her new house. We make a good team We went out to Ruby Tuesdays to celebrate my 31st birthday. The steak was wonderful! I took lots of pictures but I just wanted to sharing this one with you all because I really like it - my sweet, simple, loving, caring, sacrificing Mom While we were waiting for the fireworks to start Mike decided to play around with his phone. He was online ...
