Project 365 ~ Week 39

Image
What a week! We had lots of rain and Praise the Lord the lakes here in GA are full. It has been a long time since they have been this full. This week looks like it's going to be a nice sunny week, so my plan is to get lots of outside chores done. In case I don't have enough projects going on, I decided to start knitting again. I am working on a scarf for Mike. Headed over to the Jeffries this week and we all had an early day and a very full day so that afternoon Bailey decided she would lay down and take a little "dog" nap. I started a new book this week. I heard several people talking about this series so now it's my turn to read it. Since I read so slowly I plan on finishing this book but I'm not sure how many more from this series I will end up reading. With all the storms and rain we have had the last two weeks, we lost power at our house for about an hour. It was great because I got to use my hurricane lamp for the very first time. We sat and listened ...

This was a full week for us.... we had family camp with our church family and we ended the week with a birthday party. This is the third year we have attended family camp and each year has been a blessing. Family camp is a special time for us... it is full of time to relax... time to have fun on the water... time to go fishing... time to play together with friends... time to see some of God's creation (this is a stick bug...also called a walking stick)... time to shoot some guns... time to work together as a family... time to enjoy some delicious food... time to challenge each other... time to teach... time to serve... and time to worship the Lord. We left family camp early to head home so we could go to Johnston's birthday party. And of course, a birthday party isn't complete without some cake :-)

It's Camp Time

Project 365 ~ Week 37

While visiting the pumpkin farm last week we bought a huge butternut squash. I made Curried Butternut Squash Soup with Lime Crema . It was delicious but I must say I added way more spices than what the recipe called for. Pictured below is Mike's bowl of soup, I tried to make a heart with the Lime Crema. After doing some touch up work on our walls, I put this saying on the wall. I bought this vinyl letting decoration back when I went to Pennsylvania to visit my grandparents. I can't believe it took me this long to finally get it up. We had a good downpour this week and Mike was so excited when he looked outside he could see our rocks working just like we had hoped they would. The water was running through the rocks instead of creating a path through the dirt. I went out to check eggs and I think we have a broody hen again. Well I took this picture with two hens in boxes but really the one on the right is the one that is broody. I know this because she has been in the bo...

Labor Day Weekend

Image
Mike decided it was time to take Betsy to the lake. Well, we didn't actually end up at the lake because we thought it would be really crowded since it was a holiday weekend. Instead some friends of ours told us about this really nice camping area that had a creek. We didn't do the camping part (although one day we may just try it out) but the creek was great. Everything worked out perfectly. There were people there but only a hand full. We found a nice little spot with 2 large somewhat flat rocks that we were able to set up our camping chairs on, and it had a nice area for Betsy to run, swim and slide.

Project 365 ~ Week 36

This was a very special week for me. Mike had the entire week off work. We planned on going to SC to visit family but we just couldn't find anyone to watch our dog, chicks and chickens. So, we had a staycation instead of a vacation. Mike found this really cool rooster in Gainesville, GA. I remember when Ocala had horses all around town painted in lots of different ways. I learned this week that Gainesville is the poultry capital of the world. This week we had 3 different meals to deliver to families from church. It made it so much easier to do with Mike being off work. Here is a picture after we made our first food drop off. The drive way to this house was a really steep one and the garbage can was out next to the mailbox. Mike was backing up being very careful not to hit the mailbox and garbage can but the other side of the drive way had somewhat of a ditch. Needless to say we didn't expect to be delivering food and end up stuck in the driveway. God took care of us and everyth...

Las Vegas ~ Rest of the Visit

Image
The end of our trip to Vegas actually took us on a road trip to Sea World in San Diego. Of course Rachel was most excited about this part of our trip. Rachel and Miss Veronica taking a little break under a huge tree at Sea World. Aunt Kathy bought Rachel a Shamu soft pretzel. The dolphin show was cool... But the coolest thing about Sea World is definitely the Shamu show! We got to enjoy a Sesame Street 4D show. Watch sea lions get some sun. Sea World even has a show with lots of rescued animals... from birds to pigs they train them to do this show and remind people that all animals need training. I love the beluga whales. I just love to sit and watch them swim around. Thanks Uncle Paul and Aunt Kathy for a very special week!
